    Hey sean, I followed the logo upload instructions in Docs, but I’m not sure about the optimal width and/or height of the image.

    It’s a square image, and I want to center it (Encore child theme) but i’m not sure which size to “resize” it to.

    Any thoughts?

    Hey, Ray. There is no optimal size for logo images. It’s 100% whatever you want it to be. Simply create (or buy… or whatever) the logo image you want and use it. Volatyl does not interfere with your design at all. Only your site structure (like a true framework should). The only thing you can’t do with the logo by default is make it wider than the main width of the site. It’ll always fit within the site limits unless you purposely change that. Otherwise, it’s all your call. No limitations and no design done for you.

    Hey Sean, I’ve uploaded my logo a few times (different sizes) but after the upload is finished, and I see the “Your settings have been updated. Nice.” appear…the logo shows up in the media area, but not in the preview area or on the site. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. I also sent you a pm about purchasing the EDD theme. Thanks

    Ah! Okay… so it’s not that the logo was a bad size. It’s that the logo upload isn’t working.

    Can you let me know what version of Volatyl you’re running and who your webhost is? Also, can you show me which plugins you’re using? There may be a javascript conflict.

    Okay thanks. This problem has popped up here and there and I’m trying my best to track down the common denominator in all cases. Stay tuned.

    As for now, which is actually what I like to do for the greatest amount of control, you can disable your site title and site tagline in the Volatyl Options and take complete control by building them with the vol_header_top hook.

    The key would be to use the same classes in your HTML as what I use in Volatyl. That way everything behaves the same. I wrote about it for another member in this gist, though I got a little more detailed there on how to change the HTML tag based on the page being viewed. But if that little snippet of code doesn’t look like too much, you can give that a shot.

    Here’s another quick example of how I do it on SDavisMedia.com:

    // Custom header
    function custom_logo() {
    	if (is_home()) {
    		$seotitle = "h1";
    	} else {
    		$seotitle = "p";
    	}
    	echo "<{$seotitle} class="site-title"><a title="", bloginfo( 'description' ), "" href="", bloginfo( 'url' ), "">sd</a></{$seotitle}>";
    }
    add_action('vol_header_top','custom_logo');

    Of course, “sd” there would be replaced with your tag. If you use that and replace sd with your <img> HTML, be sure that all double quotes inside of your <img> tag are escaped by placing a “/” right before each double quote.

    I’ll get back to you on the logo uploader.

    UPDATE: Everything is working fine. At the suggestion of Pippin (EDD) I created another user profile with admin access and for some reason, all of the Volatyl theme functions work perfectly.

    Sorry for wasting your time. I appreciate all of your help tho.

    Thanks!

    Hey Sean, I couldn’t figure out how to implement your code above. I uploaded my logo image (via FTP client) the same way I did with the favicon image. Then I put the code in but it didn’t work, so i just used Appearance >> Volatyl >> Hooks >>

    That will be fine until the logo uploader glitch is fixed.

    thanks

    Awesome! What a relief. No time wasted at all. Let me know if you have anymore issues.
