In the Touch_EDD theme, i selected the Custom Layout option for one page, then saved, then choose Content only option and saved again.

When I reload my web page, the content area do not display (i only see the header and activated nav bar and footer.

If I view the page source, the #main-content DIV isn’t there.

If I set the page template back to Default, Squeeze, etc., the content is back.

    What could be wrong?
What do you need from me to find the bug? (or maybe my mistake!)

    Hey, Jérôme!

Everything is actually behaving exactly as it should. There’s just a misunderstanding of the features.

Page Templates are a feature that only apply to Pages and they are used for very specific tasks. They actually ignore any layout options that you choose below the text editor because they create their own page layout based on which template you choose.

The Custom Layout template is a blank canvas. It’s used to let the HTML/CSS authors create their own custom pages with whatever content they want instead of the typical content, sidebar, etc. It’s how pages like this and this are created.

Here’s how you would actually use the Custom Layout template. If you are unfamiliar with HTML, CSS, and a little PHP, this may be a little more than what you’d like to use. However, you’re not actually missing out on anything by not using the Custom Layout template. It’s simply a blank canvas I provided for additional freedom to full customize. Also, it’s set up to only remove the “guts” of your site which explains why you could still see the header, menu, footer, etc. There’s no need for you to have to create that stuff if you’re just making a custom layout within the main content area.

With that being said, the page layout options below the editor only apply to the 7 built-in layouts of Volatyl. By default, each Page your create will use the default site layout you set in the Volatyl Options. But you can change each Page (or Post… or Download) to have any of the 7 layouts you’d like.

Again, though, if you select a different Page Template, you’re telling Volatyl that you want the template to control the layout and not the layout options.

I hope that makes sense! Let me know if that helps.

    I understand!

    Thanks 🙂
