    Hi Sean,

Is there an easy way to add a fourth widget to the footer?

    Best wishes,

Hi, Benoît. I’m really sorry for missing your ticket here. My notifications don’t seem to be working (and I don’t check the forums often enough, obviously).

It can be done but it’s kind of involved since the footer widget areas are designed to do most of the work for you.

The vol_footer_frame() function can be overwritten from your theme using the same function name because it’s pluggable. The function is located in inc/html/footer-html.php.

You’d copy the function into your child theme and then replace <?php vol_footer_element(); ?> with the contents of that function located just above it in the same file. That’s where the 3 widgets are built. Then you could add your 4th width.

Keep in mind, though, there’s CSS written to give them all a width based on the presence of used widgetized areas in the footer. So you would also need to write new CSS.
