There are three default header elements displayed on your blog when you install Volatyl:
- Site Title
- Site Tagline
- Header Menu
Plain and simple, you can hide each of these elements by going to Dashboard => Appearance => Volatyl Options => Content (tab) => Content Settings => Display Default Header Elements.
The site title text is pulled directly from Dashboard => Settings => General => Site Title. Whatever you have there will display as your site title.
However, if you have a logo uploaded, the logo will replace your site title. However, it can still be toggled on and off using this option.
The site tagline text is pulled directly from Dashboard => Settings => General => Tagline. Whatever you have there will display as your site tagline.
The Header Menu is the only menu that is registered and ready to use by default. To use this menu, you need to go Dashboard => Appearance => Menus.
- Create a new menu and save your menu.
- Under the “Theme Locations” section, use the drop-down to select the name of the menu you just created in step 1.
- Save your selection.
- Use the sections beneath “Theme Locations” to add items to your new menu.
The Header Menu supports only one drop-down menu. Because of the way drop-down menus span to the left or right, too many nested menus in the header can cause the menu items to reach outside of your screen width and cause horizontal scroll. That’s no good.
